Real Wedding: High School Sweethearts
I'm having a hard time writing this post. Not because I have nothing to say, but because I want to say everything. This love is difficult to put into words. It's young and genuine, creative and inspired. Kelsey & Tyler's love is rare and *sigh* oh, so special.
These two met as teenagers. In the most classic, early-2000s way possible, Tyler asked Kelsey to be his girlfriend over AIM (Remember your first screen name?! Mine was bulldogz23!). From day 1, their hearts were connected and through high school milestones, college & distance, new jobs and living in Chicago, their souls became inseparable. Everything they do is to build each other up, to celebrate each other's successes (big & small), to enjoy everyday moments and support the hard times. There's no doubt Kelsey & Tyler are meant to be, forever and ever!
I could tell you more, but you should just watch the video (below, by Mann Frau). It's impossible not to get choked up, to not feel overwhelmingly happy, like you'll need to find your own love and give them a big ol' squeeze and kiss!
Like a lot of our couples, Kelsey & Tyler came to us as a destination couple. Even though, their distance was somewhat close - from Chicago to Milwaukee - and at the time, I was still living in Denver. I think most vendors know within the first 5 minutes if they click with a couple. This connection was apparent in less than 2 minutes!
We bonded over our love for Milwaukee, the gem of the midwest, our interest in design details and our ability to joke with each other in the first conversation.
With Tyler working as a geology researcher and the wedding taking place in October, the 3 of us came up with personalized details and a vendor team that made their wedding totally unique to them!
Navy & burgundy color palette with gold accents
Loose floral arrangements for a boho chic vibe
Table garlands & a floral installation above the head table
Hand drawn table numbers on agate slices
Marbled geode cake in autumn flavors
Lighting to highlight food stations & design details
To say I loved getting to know Kelsey & Tyler is an understatement. I feel honored in a way, that they choose & trusted me to be part of their love story. I have a vivid memory from this day. I was standing outside the building, sending them into the room for their first introduction as husband and wife. I heard their guests cheering and watched K&T strut their stuff, their animated faces and physical jumping for joy and thought to myself, "Wow, they are SO in love." My heart felt like it was going to explode and I'm pretty sure a tear or two swelled in my eyes (for the 100th time that day).
This relationship went beyond professional, straight to friendship status. I'm so proud to know them and to have given them the wedding & day of their dreams.
