Real Wedding: It Started with a Tinder Date
Let's talk about Scottie and Delaney. The first time I met these two, at a quaint Wash Park restaurant in Denver called Devil's Food, we bonded over a Midwest connection - Scottie said he trusted my judgement and personality because I was from WI (good call, buddy!) - and a love for food. It was a no brainer for us to work together!
She from Golden, CO, he from Buffalo, NY, these two met on Tinder, share a love for craft beer and have a no-filter, sarcastically fun, extremely loving relationship. If I had to pick one word to describe them individually and as a couple, I'd say genuine. Every conversation about our families, what's happening in our lives, our future plans, etc. was genuine. Every interaction between them was playful and genuine. I loved getting to know Scottie & Delaney - their creativity, upbeat personalities and concern for planning a party their friends & family would enjoy are what took the work out of this particular job.
Our planning started a little over a year before their September wedding date. The main goals were to give guests a kick-ass party by pairing unique elements of delicious food and an open bar with personalized details reflecting Scottie & Delaney's relationship, all while staying on budget. Everything from having her father marry them to making sure there was enough seating for the large guest count. With the 3 of us being Pisces - fellow Pisces you know what this means - there was no shortage of creative brain power to make it happen!
- Dressing up an old church for the reception venue
- A jewel-toned color palette
- Food trucks with walk-up service & custom menu sign
- Alcohol & beer provided by the couple
- Social media themed details like a Tinder photo prop & emoji cut-outs for the bars
- DIY paper lanterns with lights
- A collection of brown bottles for flowers
- Late night snacks provided by Ian's Pizza & VooDoo Doughnut
Oh yeah, it wasn't supposed to rain but there's a saying in Denver. If you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes. Well, we waited all day for the weather to change, but unfortunately it rained...all...day. Despite the rain, we brought all the details together - quite last minute from outside to inside. In fact, I think the rain made it that much more fun for the guests. At least that's what they were telling us...!
