There's something extra special about working with couples who we have a personal connection with. Is that an obvious statement?! Lauren & I met as servers working in the same Third Ward Restaurant in Milwaukee, Swig, about 8 years ago. I've always admired Lauren's sense of humor, her worldly lifestyle and her kind, caring personality.
So. When I heard Tony popped the question, I had to (shamelessly) offer our planning services. Thankfully, they agreed to bring us into their love story in the Dalles, OR and the rest is history!
In our planning, Lauren & Tony let me in on the most important pieces of their wedding: the people, the food and the beer. There was no shortage of any of these.
The guests were fabulous - especially Berkley, their lovable pooch/ring bearer whom I endearingly called "Barkley". The slow-roasted pig was divine - complete with L&T ceremoniously feasting on the eyeballs. I quote "you know if you put that in front of me, I can't not eat it!" The homemade beer was top notch - it went so fast that we needed to make a mid-reception beer run to the nearest liquor store thanks to flip cup & shotskis!
A few other highlights of the night included blow-up pretzels & polka (immediately following their first dance), farmer's market flowers, an endless supply of 90s music (including that from our favorite Disney movies), VooDoo Donuts and an end of the night Karaoke session with all the best...in a teepee!
